Let’s Talk Carbs…My Journey

Happy New Year Everyone!

I made a post a while back about losing 25lbs in 3 months on keto/carnivore diet. It was so great to get down to a better weight and fit in my clothes better. I was on cloud 9, then autumn came. This meant pumpkin spice lattes, cookies, breads, real sugar and comfort food. My diet went to the back burner and my cravings on the forefront.

I had family come to town and we were delightfully bad. We came up with so many fun ideas: biscuits and gravy, cakes, pies, chili, cookies etc. We were a force to be recken with. Yum yum yum! By the time they left it had been a month and a half of bad eating and 10lbs added to my waistline from adding carbs back into my diet.

I gave myself the excuse, “it’s the holidays and its ok to enjoy”. I will diet after the new year. I noticed I was sluggish and had breathing issues from inflammation. It was difficult to deal with, but it was hard to back off my holiday kick. I kept pushing through with my bad habits til the bitter end. I had gained 16lbs, which was a relief that not all 25 came back!

So here we are, the 5th of January, and I can proudly say I have already lost 6 of those pounds, 10 to go! I did a homemade bone broth 2 day fast starting on the first. I have been doing one meal a day fast and low carb meals. I even made a keto cobbler. I will have bone broth at night if I get hungry which is super helpful. I have lost on average a little more than a pound a day. I am hoping the next 10 will come off as easily! I want to go past my original weight loss, be even healthier and keep the healthy habits long after my weight goal is reached.

As sad as it was to gain those 16lbs back it is so nice to see it can be fixed relatively quickly with this diet choice. I feel more in control of my body and my body is so much happier.

Just know you can do this too! I know how it feels to be stuck and think it won’t ever happen. I was stuck for 7 years with my PCOS diagnosis, but there are great options out there to help! It might be as simple as cutting out most carbs like it is for me.

You can do this! You can lose the unwanted pounds! We can do it together! I hope you all have a very happy new year!
